Guardians of the Deep - Circle Logo

Tracking the M65 along the Slangkop Pass will reveal incredible views of the Slangkop Lighthouse to the backdrop of extensive coastal kelp beds. Dropping back down to restio-scented wetlands, you will discover the Guardians of the Deep Marine Centre for the educational element of the Trail. Explorers will be able to buy Trail merchandise and meet the conservationists and educators encouraging communities to enjoy and protect this precious habitat

You then enter the gates of the Cape of Good Hope Section of Table Mountain National Park for the next stop at the Buffelsfontein Visitors Centre. After travelling through the old fishing village of Kalk Bay, and along the Main Road meandering past colourful shops and quaint coffee cafes, ‘Kelpies’ pop out at the surf spot of Muizenberg Beach. Here you will be able to experience musical storytelling with Pedro Espi-Sanchis as you forage for dry kelp, craft instruments and learn how to play local and international songs. Following the M3 north will end this epic Trail and take all you kelp forest explorers back to Cape Town City Centre
